Vespers for the Festival of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
As part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2015, Crichton Church plays host to the Scottish Plainsong Choir, recreating in the beautiful mediaeval setting of the church, a Vespers service as it would have been sung around the time of the building of Crichton in 1440.
Scotland’s leading exponent of Plainsong, Alan Tavener, is joined by Revd. Martin Robson in recreating the interchange of monastic and priestly voices in the numinous acoustic offered by one of Scotland’s finest collegiate churches.
